Mr. Holdwick, I met you when I was 14 years old. Now, at 41 can I truly appreciate the impact that you have on me and honestly, all of Patrick’s (AKA Chico) friends. This letter is more of a thank you letter and I wish that I had the opportunity to tell you personally. Well, until that time comes....
Thank you for raising a son that is truly one of the best humans that I know. You instilled your values of love, kindness and willingness to share the shirt off his back for a friend. That type of loyalty is hard to find in the world today. The right way is the only way in the Holdwick household.
Thank you for helping me truly understand the value of family. From backyard BBQ’s, trips to Papa’s Woods, parties in your basement ( I may have actually lived down there a couple of times throughout high school), birthdays and everything in between- I always felt like family and a sense of belonging
Thank you for you calm demonor and grace. We made a lot of mistakes. You never once judged but rather gave us the tools to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps, take responsibility and make things right again.
Thank you for reminding us to laugh. A lot. From your crazy stories around the campfire that actually led to a friend dressing up like a bear and chasing us and we can’t forget all of your practical jokes. I learned to never take myself too seriously.
Thank you for these life lessons that have shaped the person that I am today- I am forever grateful.
All of my love,
April 4, 2019
