It is with infinite sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Paul Belz, age 76, on September 13, 2020 from complications due to a brain aneurysm. Mike was born September 6, 1944 in Iron Mountain, MI and raised in Warren, MI where he spent the remainder of his life. He graduated from Lincoln High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State University. Mike retired from Ashland Chemical after 35 years of service.
Mike is survived by Sandie, his wife of 54 years; children Michael (Joan) Belz, Julie (Roland Respondeck) Stanaway; granddaughters Tehya, Micaela, Samantha and Jordan; Siblings Evelyn (Tony) Sammut, John (Rosemary) Belz, Peter (Celia) Belz, Christine Friend; nieces, nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Gertrude Belz, and brother David.
What brought him joy was his family and friends. He was proud of his kids and was the best Pa to his girls that there ever was. Nowhere was he happier than when outdoors golfing, hunting, or fishing with those he loved. Mike liked to be the first person to the party and was always the last to leave. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix and he would often drop what he was doing to help anyone who asked.
There is a quote in his office that reads, "Dad: To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might just be the world." While this is true, he was in fact, the world to so many. The void that is left will never be filled and he will be missed more than can be expressed in words.
At this time, no services will be held.
