Norman leaves behind his children, Mark (Sue) Runson, Linda Rettig, Karen Filion, Evan (Sharon) Runson; his grandchildren, Natalie (Matt) Zedro, Brian Runson, Andrew (Lea) Laux, Katie Filion, Carly Filion, OWen Runson; two great-grandchildren, Kate and Jack Zedro; a sister, Annie (Larry) Edwards; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann; and a sister, Marlene Fliney
Norm’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa always ensuring everyone’s needs were met. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. It did not matter if it was family dinner, a trip to Florida or the quick drive to school, he was always there to advise, listen and ensure fun for all.
Norm owned and personally operated a successful engine rebuilding business for over 50 years, working daily with his sons and many dedicated employees. His main advertising strategy being “word of mouth”.
Norm’s love for baseball included playing as a high school catcher and again in the Army. He shared his love for the game coaching his sons, grandchildren and many other youngsters over 20 plus years (always ensuring the coolest uniforms!). He was an avid Tigers fan and greatly enjoyed attending countless games with a park meal of a steamed hot dog, peanuts and cherry Icee. If he was not at the game, you could generally find him watching on TV.
Always easy to talk to, I am sure many who read this would call him their buddy, friend or “Dad”.
Private family services have been held.
