Robin Gayle Varani

Robin G. Varani, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Warren, Michigan. She was born on July 12, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Joseph Swearinger and the late Alma (nee Powell) Swearinger.

Raised in Detroit, Robin met the love of her life, John, in 1989 through a somewhat unexpected encounter. After just two weeks, she agreed to go on a date with him, and after that first date and first kiss, she knew he was the one. The two were married on November 14, 1992, in Allen Park, Michigan, and shared a loving relationship spanning more than 37 years.

Throughout her life, Robin worked as a waitress at various establishments, eventually finding a place she enjoyed at Kirby’s Coney Island in Southfield. She also spent several years working as a caregiver. Robin was a true social butterfly who loved being around people. Whether serving customers in a restaurant or caring for others in an assisted living community, she made friends wherever she went. She was well-liked by everyone who knew her, always bringing happiness, warmth, and her bubbly personality wherever she went.

In 1997, Robin and John made their home in Warren, where they spent more than 25 years building a life together and raising their family. As her children grew up and neighborhood kids came through the door, Robin became a second mom to everyone. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, and her home was a place where family and friends could always gather.

Robin enjoyed spending evenings playing poker with friends and traveling to some of her favorite destinations, including Las Vegas and the Caribbean, as well as taking cruises. If there was sunshine and warm weather, Robin was happy. She loved feeling the sand between her toes and soaking up the sun. And when the sun went down, the fun continued with slot machines, card games, and plenty of laughter with friends. Robin had a smile that could light up a room and a bubbly personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her joyful spirit, love of people, and ability to make others feel special will be deeply missed.

Robin was the beloved wife of John Sr. and the loving mother of John Jr. (Alicia) Varani, Ashlee (Justin) Fitch, and Brandon (Gabriella) Varani. She was the dear sister of Kellie Swearinger and the late Angela Egan. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation for Robin will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Road, Madison Heights, Michigan 48071.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
