With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the vibrant life of Rochelle Robin Abrams, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, nurse, who loved expressing her creativity through textile arts, and adventurer, who passed away surrounded by love at the age of 68.
A true firecracker and unstoppable force, Rochelle lit up every room she entered. She was a go-getter in every sense — a woman who never sat still and lived life with purpose, humor, and heart. Whether she was dancing to her favorite songs, playing the piano, or crafting beautiful jewelry by hand, she infused creativity and passion into everything she touched.
Rochelle spent her career caring for others — first as a trusted travel agent, helping others discover the world she so deeply loved herself; and then later as a devoted school nurse and, most recently, as a pediatric nurse with Pediatric Clinic PC, where she comforted many children. From the sun-drenched beaches of Florida to distant corners of the globe, she collected memories, not things, and left footprints everywhere she went.
After years in Florida, she moved back to Michigan to be closer to her children, a decision that only deepened the bond she cherished most — her family. She adored being a mother and “Bubbe” to not only her grandchildren, but to their friends as well….. and her love was unwavering, fierce, and unconditional. Her legacy of caregiving extended beyond her profession — it was her nature. If someone needed help, a laugh, or a shoulder, Rochelle was there.
She was a pillar in her community, loved by all for her generous heart, infectious energy, and radiant smile. She never missed a sunset without stopping to marvel at it, reminding those around her to slow down and savor life’s simple beauties.
Rochelle didn’t just live — she lived fully. She laughed loud, hugged tight, danced often, and gave more than she took. To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her was a gift beyond measure.
She leaves behind a family who adored her, countless friends who admired her, and a legacy of joy, adventure, and love that will continue to shine in all who knew her.
Adored mother of Julie (Michael) Martinez, Ruthanne Taylor, and John Abrams; proud Bubbe of Allyson Frizza, Ella Martinez, Paige Frizza, Christopher Frizza, and Grant Martinez; loving caregiver to her dog, Scrappy. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Robert and Ruth Backus; brother, Robert Backus; sister, Roberta Kelley; and niece, Caitlin Kerk.
The family will greet guests from 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a 7:00pm Celebration of Rochelle's Life on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd., Madison Heights, Michigan.
