Rev. Alberta Ross Gilpin

Rev. Alberta Ross Gilpin, 98, of Amherst passed away Monday, December 05, 2016, at Fairmont Crossing. She was the wife of the late Rev. Leslie Martin Gilpin. Born November 20, 1918, in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Albert Jack Ross and the late Virginia Muncy Ross.

Alberta was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her husband and parents, Alberta was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Dale Gilpin; and two sisters, Opal R. Fuller and Dorothy R. Johnson.

Alberta is survived by her six children, Leslie Harold Gilpin of Elkins, NC, Jack R. Gilpin and his wife Jeanita of Amherst, Larnelle C. Gilpin and his wife Karen of Madison Heights, Janna Faith Hager and her husband Tom of Ocala, FL, Alberta Sue Epperly of Lynchburg and Georgina Gilpin Turman and her husband Edward of Forest; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
