Whitten Monelison Chapel
Alvin “Termite” Barnes Foster, 71, of Amherst passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at his home. He was the husband of 52 years to Janet Dudley Foster. Born June 22, 1947, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Preston Earl Foster and the late Nora Wilmer Foster
Termite was the owner/operator for Countryline, Inc. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. Termite was passionate about the company he created, and loved those who worked there. He was well-known for seeing the good in people, even when his peers disapproved. In his 71 years, Termite Foster has become a well-known figure in the trucking industry and the local community. One of his most well-known traits was his habit of calling his friends and family “hero.” Termite Foster is a sort of hero to many people that had the pleasure of meeting him.
In addition to his wife, Termite is survived by his daughter, Deborah Brown and her husband Peronneau IV of Monroe; one brother, David Foster of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Colton Brown and Heather Cook and her husband Tommy; and friends too numerous to count.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor J. Mike Dodson officiating.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Humane Society of Amherst County.
