Born September 4, 1938 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter Davis Wood and Hattie Pugh Wood and was also preceded in death by her fiance’, Bobby Steagall and three sisters, Mary Juanita Coles, Peggy Bersch, and Nancy Coles. She was a retired seamstress with Courtland Manufacturing.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her son, Walter D. Mason and his wife Kathy of Madison Heights; one granddaughter, Lisa Bennett, and one great-grandson, Noah M. Dunkley and neighborhood friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. David Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
