Born October 5, 1931 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Thuell Wright and Cabell Massie Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Morra and Florence Proctor.
Mrs. Sprouse is survived by a daughter, Diantha Sprouse (Janice); three sons, Larry Sprouse (Karen), Tony Sprouse (Debbie Lou), and Tracy Sprouse (Tina); four grandchildren, Jessa Sprouse, Leslie Sprouse (Brandon Leonard), Lanna Archer (Zach) and Drew Sprouse (Kari); five great-grandchildren, Everett Leonard, Jude Leonard, Callie Garrett, Liam Archer and Mason Sprouse; one sister, Georgie Staton; one brother, Wayne Maddox; two special friends, Juanita Rose and Linda Rodgers and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sprouse provided childcare for a number of years and was known as “Granny” to many. She was a wonderful cook and there was always a spot at the table. She also enjoyed gardening. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and great grandmother.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Centra Hospice, especially her caregivers, Rachel, Roberta and Patty for the wonderful care and attention they provided Mrs. Sprouse.
A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Sprouse’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2022 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Greg Tyree officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
