Born on October 1, 1946, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Malcomb Harris Schmind, Sr. and Nora Walker-Viar Schmid. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Malcomb Harris Schmid, Jr.
Arlene was very involved in her church at Temple Baptist Church and loved everyone there like family. She loved music and enjoyed singing even from a very early age. Arlene retired from Lynchburg College Dining Services which was her favorite job that she had ever had. Most of all, Arlene always enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her beloved son, Paul Allen Tyree; her beloved daughter, Angela K. Tyree; two sisters, Janice S. Stennette and Maxine Gasser; and three nieces and one nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
