Benjamin Bernard McConnell

Born on November 13, 1929 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Willis S. McConnell and Eleanor Crane McConnell Fears.

Benjamin retired from Verizon Telephone Company after 42 years of service. He was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” McConnell Lamm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Michael W. McConnell (Susan W.) of Lynchburg, Greg McConnell (Sue) of Madison Heights, and Cary G. McConnell (Sandra C.) of Monroe; granddaughters, Corrine “Cori” Daniel and husband Addison IV, Kelly Rae McConnell and Julia Megan McConnell; grandson, Cole Grayson McConnell; great granddaughters, Reagan and Payton Daniel; great grandson, Addison Daniel, V; brothers, Willis W. McConnell, Frederick J. McConnell, Dr. James J. McConnell, and George G. McConnell; sisters, Lenore “Peggy” McConnell Fox, Martha McConnell Burgess, and Eula McConnell Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Fort Hill Memorial Park, with Pastor George Harris officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge all the wonderful people from Seven Hills Hospice for their wonderful and special care of Benjamin during his illness.
