Born November 28th, 1950, Betty was a woman who lived life with a little extra spunk, a determined spirit, and a personality that was entirely her own. She had a way about her that people didn't forget. She was loving and caring, but also spirited, and never afraid to let her personality shine. To her family, she was lovingly known as Nana, a name that carried just as much warmth and affection as the woman herself. Betty had a special way of showing people they were loved, not just through her words, but through the little things she did and the care she gave so freely.
Early in life, Betty found the person she was meant to share her journey with. From the very beginning, they seemed to know they had found something special in one another, and that love never wavered. Her husband was the love of her life, and she was undoubtedly the spark in his. Together, they built a lifetime of memories, stood by one another through the years, and shared the kind of love that only grows deeper with time. Her devotion to him was never something that needed explanation; it was evident in the life they shared and in the way she loved him.
Betty also knew how to find happiness in the simple things, and she had a genuine appreciation for the little pieces of life that others might overlook. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, taking time to admire their beauty, watching the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks that visited her yard, and going out on the back deck to “feed the deer”. She had a soft spot for all living things and a nurturing heart that seemed to extend well beyond her own family. Whether it was a person who needed a helping hand or a little creature stopping by her yard, Betty was always ready to offer a bit of care. She had a generous heart, a spirited personality, and a way of making ordinary moments feel special. Those who loved Betty will remember her not only for how deeply she cared, but for the unmistakable personality and warmth that made her who she was.
Above all, Betty's family was at the heart of everything she did. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly, and each held a special place in her heart. Being Nana was one of the roles she cherished most, and she took great joy in watching her family grow, celebrating their milestones, and being part of their lives. Her love was genuine and unwavering, and she wanted those closest to her to always know how much they meant to her.
Whether through time spent together, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being there when she was needed, Betty found so much of life's happiness in her family. They were her greatest blessing, and she was proud of the generations of love that surrounded her. Betty will forever be remembered as a constant source of love and care, devotion and spirit and will never be forgotten by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in passing by her beloved son Jeffrey L. “Jeffro” Litchford.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her devoted best friend and loving husband of 60 years James “Jimmy” Litchford; her children Sherry Standley and her husband Ron, William “Scooter” Litchford and his wife Susan; her grandchildren Justin Standley and his wife Nicole, Willow Wheeler and her husband Brian, James Litchford; her great-grandchildren Maddie Standley, Rhylee Standley, Aurora Wheeler; her siblings Faye Fitzgerald, Iris Ramsey, Joe Jones, Sherman Jones; her protector and furry son Munchie the dog, and many extended friends and family.
A celebration of Betty’s life and faith will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 12pm at Harvestfield Pentecostal Assembly officiated by Pastor Steve Ramsey. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
