Betty Burks Puckett

Born in Campbell County, October 18, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Earl Burks and Sammie Sheppard Burks. She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of the Lynchburg Valley Scottish Rite Women’s Club and Randolph Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Burks and one Sister, Jane B. Davis.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Samuel Randolph “Randall” Puckett, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Lynchburg; one daughter, Christy P. Mitchell and her husband Steve of Amherst; five sisters, Ann B. Hannah, Shirley B. Layne, Helen B. Burks, Patricia B. Spitler and Nancy B. Webster and her husband Gene; three grandchildren, Sam R. Puckett, III, Spence H. Puckett and Casey A. Mitchell and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Naruna.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
