Billy Crist Purvis

Billy Crist Purvis, 79, of Madison Heights passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Edith McLemore Purvis. Born August 26, 1936, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Percy Brown Purvis and the late Carrie Crist Purvis.

Billy was a retired foreman for the Central Virginia Training Center where he served for 20 years. He also worked at the Lynchburg Gas Company for 12 years. Billy was a member of Amelon United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Whitney B. Purvis, Sr. and his son-in-law, Randall Hall.

In addition to his wife, Billy is also survived by two children, Rebecca Purvis Hall and Robert Dale Purvis, both of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Derek Moss, Jared Moss and Cody Slonaker; five great grandchildren, Aubrey Moss, Malorie Moss, Brooklyne Moss, Kamryn Moss and Kali Moss; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
