

Brenda Lee Watson Scruggs, 67, of Madison Heights, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Clarence David Scruggs, Sr. for fifty-one years.
Born January 12, 1948 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Clem Thornton Watson and Betty Maddox Watson and was also preceded in death by two sisters, her twin sister Linda Hudson and Jean Tyree; two brothers, Jack Mitchell and Donald Mitchell and a son-in-law, Garrett J. Peters.
Brenda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, caretaker, and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of the Amherst Church of God.
In addition to her husband, Brenda is survived by three children, Clarence David Scruggs, Jr. and wife Isabel of San Antonio, TX, Tammy Lynn Hogan and husband Troy of Monroe, and Angela Lee Peters of Simpsonville, SC; one sister, Barbara Tyree and husband James of Gladstone and seven grandchildren, Mathew David Scruggs, Miranda Nicole Scruggs, Thomas Ian Peters, Morgan Chaz Peters, Amanda Lee Peters, Jeffrey Coleman Hurt Allen and Boyce Hurt Allen, II.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Mays and Mathew Scruggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Evans Family Cemetery in Amherst County, off of Route 60 East.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
