

Born April 1, 1947, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Burgess Anderson Duff Sr. and Clove Jackson Duff. He was also preceded in death by a son, Burgess Anderson Duff III; and a grandson, Garrett Bradley Anderson Sale.
Mr. Duff was a United States Airforce veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was retired from American General Life and Accident, after 20 years of service and was a member of Madison Heights Baptist Church. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. The love of his life was his grandchildren, and his cat “Punkin”.
Survivors also include his daughter, Angela Duff Sale and husband Forest, of Amherst; a sister, Judy Gunter and husband Percy, of Madison Heights; brother-in-laws, Roy Hudson, of Amherst, and Carlton Hudson, of Madison Heights; four grandchildren, Jacob Forest Sale and fiancée Ashton Ogden, Taylor “Jackson” Sale and longtime girlfriend Sarah Evans, Alexandra Blake Sale, and McKinley Diane Sale, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends tonight, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel, and at other times at the residence of his daughter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Madison Heights Baptist Church, by the Rev. Todd Blake. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 16.
