

Born in Lynchburg on March 24, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Lula Howard Brooks and John Glenwood Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her sister Elaine Burnett and her brother-in-law David Earl Burnett.
Camelle is survived by her daughter Cynthia W. Hicks and son-in-law James E. Hicks; her granddaughter Anne H. Wimer, husband Bill, and their two sons, Alex and Ben, of Cary, NC; grandson James E. (Corby) Hicks, Jr. and wife Colleen, of Richmond; and granddaughter Ashley H. Weisleder and husband Devin, of Richmond. She is also survived by niece Sandra B. Wagaman and husband Richard of Charlottesville; great-niece Austin R. Hamill, husband Kyle, and their son Carter Hamill, of Vienna, VA.
Camelle was a graduate of Virginia Commercial College. She worked for Sweetbriar College, Amherst Elementary School, and then for Cash Brothers Real Estate Company until she retired.
She was surrounded and comforted by her family at the time of her passing. Her family, friends, and neighbors were an important part of her life, and she appreciated their visits and the many good times they shared over the years. She enjoyed knitting and donating baby caps for newborns at Virginia Baptist Hospital, her bridge club, eating out with friends, and many church activities.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence of her daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Monroe United Methodist Church with the Rev. George S. Riggins, III and the Rev. C. Randall Harlow officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monroe United Methodist Church.
