Carolyn Moore Miller, 75, graduated to heaven on January 13, 2026, at her home in Amherst, VA after a tough 16-month battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late John C. Moore and Mary Lowndes Moore.
Carolyn was born on April 11, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the Edgewood neighborhood. She stepped into a relationship with Christ in middle school, which became the most important decision of her life. She attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, earning a degree in Social Work, a calling that reflected her deep concern for others, and it was there that she met her beloved husband, Bob. After college, she moved to Boca Raton, Florida, where they were married and began their life together. She later settled in Boynton Beach, Florida, which she called home for more than 50 years.
She devoted her professional life to serving others through her work with the Florida Department of Health and Human Services, where she remained until her retirement. Her service, however, extended far beyond her career. For more than 25 years, she was a dedicated member of Bible Study Fellowship, where she became a deeply loved discussion group leader known for her wisdom, warmth, and authenticity.
She believed profoundly in walking alongside others through their brokenness, always pointing them toward hope and healing. Her life’s purpose was to honor God and lovingly invite others into a deeper relationship with Him. In pursuit of this calling, she attended and helped lead numerous faith-based and recovery ministries, including Life Essentials, Grief Share, Life Skills, Celebrate Recovery, and Al-Anon, touching countless lives along the way.
She found joy in Bible study, mentoring others, baking—especially her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, which she delighted in sharing—and gardening. She treasured simple, beautiful moments, particularly a good sunset. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting Ocean Inlet Park, where she could quietly watch the sun sink into the horizon.
In addition to her parents Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Robert (Bob) W Miller III, and her sister Barbara S Moore.
Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memory include her daughter Jennifer Hundstad and her husband Nicholas, and their children Isaiah and Phineas; her son Nathan Miller and his wife Jessica and their children Henry, Clark Teddy and Lincoln; her sister Mollie Jewell and her husband Gary.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Boynton Beach, FL, details to come later.
