She was born on September 14, 1943 in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of the late Paul B. Niehaus and the late Elizabeth M. Niehaus.
Cathy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and had retired from Garmen & Proffitt.
She was a seamstress, knitter, and quilter, but one of her greatest passions was puzzle building with her grandchildren.
Cathy was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Niehaus, Bob Niehaus, and Denny Niehaus.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Donald W. Schallon; three sons, Scott Schallon and wife Karen, Douglas Schallon and wife Robyn, and Matthew Schallon and wife Rachel; a brother Bernie Niehaus and wife Peggy; two sisters, Pauline A. Bramble and Betty Ann Gardner and husband John; 9 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Lucas, Abigail, Erin, Sarah, Isaac, and Hannah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church followed by a reception and a time to greet the family. The burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH next week.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Mariam’s House, PO Box 3196, Lynchburg, VA 24503 or Holy Cross Ladies of Charity, 710 Clay Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Centra Lynchburg General Hospital for the care and attention that they gave Cathy while she was there.
