Charles Alvin Garrett

Charles "Alvin" Garrett, 75, of Cullen, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024. Alvin was born on October 26, 1948 in Lynchburg Virginia to Robert Alex Garrett and Norma Castell Phelps Garrett. Alvin had a passion for gardening and was an avid NASCAR fan, especially during the Dale Earnhardt years. He also enjoyed watching Washington Redskins football and New York Yankees baseball. Known for his sweet tooth, Alvin loved to eat, especially sweets. Above all, he cherished his family and the time he spent with them. Alvin is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn G. Garrett, and his children, Keith Garrett (Beth), Melissa Breeden (Eric), Christy Fore (JC), and Lisa Scruggs. He is also survived by his siblings, Will Garrett (Patsy), Robert Garrett (Evelyn), Debra Scruggs (Dwayne), and Joyce Garrett (Judy Smith). Alvin was a proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, Virginia, on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
