Charles Edward Overstreet Sr.

Charles Edward Overstreet, Sr., 81, of Madison Heights, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Fairmont Crossing in Amherst. He was the devoted husband of Nancy Arthur Overstreet for sixty-two years.

Born January 28, 1934, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Bennie Clay and Vernie Burnett Overstreet, he was also preceded in death by a son, John Daniel Overstreet.He was retired from Meade/Rock-Tenn with forty-six years of service and was a member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Overstreet, he is also survived by two sons, Charles E. Overstreet, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Amherst, and Timothy Ray Overstreet and wife, Carolyn of Madison Heights; a brother, Reginald Lee Overstreet; a sister, Barbara Ann Trent, both of Campbell County; three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Meade Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Freeman officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, prior to the service, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
