

Born June 8, 1948 in Bedford County, he was the son of the late George Herman and Viola Wilson Whorley. Mr. Whorley was retired from RR Donnelly and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Whorley is survived by two sons, David E. Moore and wife Veronica of Sumter, SC and Roger William Whorley of Lynchburg; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Whorley of Madison Heights; a brother, Robert H. Whorley; a sister, Jane W. Markham and husband Wayne, all of Big Island; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Carey Forbis officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.
