Claudia Voncille Bernard

Claudia Voncille Bernard, 69, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at her residence. Born on January 19, 1954 in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Bernard Sr. and Dorothy Bernard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Mark Anthony, her sister, Sharon Martin and her sister-in-law, Cathy Bernard. She loved Mickey Mouse, money, shopping, spending time at The Arc, getting presents, jewelry, playing Bingo, dressing up for Halloween, taking trips (especially to the beach) and telling jokes. She was known for her infectious smile and laugh. She will be missed by all those that knew her. She is survived by her sister, Ushell Thornburg (CL), and two brothers, Elmer Bernard, Jr. and Kenneth Bernard (Michelle); her loving caretakers of 15 years, Pamela and Mark Turner; best friend, “Milkshake” (Aaron Turner) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Elon Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Pastor Barry Tucker officiating. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the love and compassion shown to Claudia especially Heather Cook, Tammy Pollard, June Mc Namara, Sara Kubic, and Penny Springs.
