Claudia Ruth Grogan “PeeWee” Guthrie, 70, of Roanoke passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at Friendship Manor in Roanoke.

Born in Lynchburg, May 12, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Russell Blain Grogan and Margaret Louise Wood. She was retired from Virginia Plastics and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was also a member and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Vinton Chapter #136.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Cordelia G. “Kitty” Massie.

Survivors include three children, Christine Louise Fields and her husband Robert, Kenneth Richard Guthrie, Jr. and his wife Marie and Donna Lynn Guthrie Blevins and her husband James all of Roanoke; two sisters, Charlotte Bailey of Charlottesville and Margaret Lawhorn and her husband Robert of Rustburg; the love of her life for 26 years, Sherman Wheeler; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with officiating. Interment will follow in Allwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, 3966 S. Amherst Hwy., Madison Heights, VA.
