

Born in Amherst County, April 5, 1936, he was the son of the late David Warren Mays and Nita Campbell Mays. He worked as a Foreman for Consumers/Dornin-Adams, Inc. and also served in the National Guard.
He was a longtime member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, a charter member of Harvest Ministries Baptist Church and was a member of Living Water Baptist Church in Madison Heights.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Warren Mays, Jr., one sister, Edith Deaton and one great grandchild, Brianna Tyree.
He is survived by six children, Clarence E. “C.E.” Mays and wife Nancy of Concord, Patricia Driskill of Madison Heights, Curtis D. Mays, Jr. and wife Karen of Anchorage, Alaska, Vicky M. Baldock and husband Mike of Smithfield, NC, James Mays and wife Kelly of West Unity, OH and Gary Mays of Madison Heights; one brother, James B. Mays of Madison Heights, 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with his son, Pastor James Mays officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the home of his granddaughter, Shelley Bennett, 193 Arrowhead Dr., Madison Heights.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Briarwood Memorial Gardens.
