Daisy Margaret Smith Oblinger

Born October 2, 1916 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Shelton Aubrey Smith, Sr. and the late Cassie Lee Hunt Smith and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Peirl Oblinger; one sister, Cornelia Smith and two brothers, John L. (Jack) Smith and Shelton Aubrey Smith. Mrs. Oblinger was a retired Madison Heights rural carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Elon Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Oblinger is survived by her daughter, Sarah V. (Sally) Oblinger Johnson and husband Glenn; her son, John Smith Oblinger and wife Vickie, all of Elon; five grandchildren, Susan Oblinger Williams and husband, Jeffrey, Marianne Oblinger McDonald and husband, Douglas, David Glenn Johnson, Cassie Lee Johnson, and Rebecca Caitlin Johnson and five great-grandchildren, Samuel John Williams, Alexander Cole Williams, Madelyn Elizabeth McDonald, Jonathan Michael McDonald, and Samuel Thomas Goodman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Elon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Barry Tucker and the Rev. Millard Stimpson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the church.
