

Born January 12, 1937, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Edward William Freeman and Beatrice Fulcher Freeman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Randolph and Carlton Freeman; and a sister, Betty Thaxton.
Mr. Freeman was a United States Navy, Korean War veteran. He was retired from Guill Paint Co., and had formerly been employed at Griffin Pipe. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors also include a son, David L. Freeman, of Tallahassee, FL; a daughter, Rose Marie Freeman and fiancé Joseph Muscarella, of Fredonia, NY; step-children, Curtis Johns, Vivian Webber and husband Mike, and Rhonda Simpson, all of Madison Heights; three brothers, the Rev. Ronnie Freeman, of Lynchburg, Edward W. Freeman and wife Shirley, of Madison Heights, and Kenneth Freeman and wife Mary, of Lynchburg; a sister, Estelle Phelps, of Lynchburg; and special family member, Effie Hall, of Madison Heights, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, and at other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2012, at the funeral home, by the Rev. Earl Clarkson Jr., and the Rev. Sidney Wade. Interment will follow in St Paul’s Episcopal Mission Cemetery.
The family would like to thank hospice workers, Vicky Baily, Katie Williams, Roberta West, and Robbin Ferguson, for all the love and support shown to Mr. Freeman and his family.
