Born on August 6, 1962, in Bedford County, Virginia, David was the son of the late James Raymond Johns and Diddy Marie Cash Johns. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Angela Marie Staton Johns, and his son, Anthony Raymond Johns.
David worked for Valley Rich Dairy for many years before eventually joining Transloading services hauling coal until he retired as from truck driving. He was also a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed dancing at the New London Ruritan Club, spending time hunting and fishing, and working on vehicles. He was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and ability to make those around him laugh. To his family, he was much more than a brother—he was the best brother anyone could ask for, always offering love, support, and encouragement.
Above all else, David loved his family. The memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the kindness he showed will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his three sisters, Charlotte Marie Johns (Gene Branham), Becky Coles (Troy), and Rosa Martin (Dennis); his step-grandchildren, Kelly Price, Hailey Sears, and Jacob Sears; and his nephew, Dylan Coles.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Monacan Indian Nation community room (111 Highview Dr, Madison Heights, VA 24572), with Minister Cynthia Branham officiating.
