Dennis Cash

C. Dennis Cash, 64, of Madison Heights, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 in Amherst County after being struck by a passing tractor trailer, while working an accident scene. He was the devoted husband of Audrey Campbell Cash for thirty-five years.

Born October 20, 1947 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Fletcher Thomas “Pat” Cash, Jr. and Joyce Murkey Cash Turman. Dennis was the 2nd generation owner & operator of Cash’s Garage in Madison Heights and was an honorary member of the Monelison Rescue Squad for 10 years. He was the proud recipient of the Gold Commonwealth Award for Outstanding Citizenship in April of 1995. Dennis attended Gethsemane Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by four sons, Gregory Wayne Cash and wife, Lanie of Nashville, TN, Gordon Scott Cash and wife, Michelle of Amherst, Jonathan Myree Cash and wife, Lindy, and Matthew Alan Cash, both of Madison Heights; one brother, Phillip Cash and wife, Carolyn of Farmville; two sisters, Faye Cash of St. Louis, MO and Rhonda Dedrickson and husband, Brian of Raleigh, NC; two half-sisters, Kristy and husband, Joseph and Kacie; seven grandchildren, Sydney-Ann, Jacob, Collin, Ethan, Jaxon, Ryann, and Ben; his stepmother, Judy Cash of Amherst; his father and mother-in-law, Myree and Louise Campbell of Greenville, VA; two former brothers-in-law, Wayne Drumheller and Jim Littich; a devoted sister-in-law, Patti Kinsey of York, PA and his dog, Mac and cat, Nubbie.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Carlton Duck, Pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst County.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
