

He was born in Nelson County on September 3, 1934, son of the late John Henry Zirkle and the late Bessie Allen Zirkle.
Dennis was retired from Hennis Freight Lines after 40 years of service. He was a past President of James River Blue Grass Association, enjoyed traveling, and was a man who had never met a stranger.
In addition to his beloved wife Kathleen, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters, James Zirkle, Arnold Zirkle, Frank Zirkle, Claude Zirkle, Bill Zirkle, Annie DeMasters, and Kathleen Zirkle Deitsch.
Survivors include 4 children, J. DeWayne Zirkle and wife Tammy, Denise Zirkle, Lori Lawrence and husband Steve, and Beverly Ross and husband Scott; 10 grandchildren, Dennis James Zirkle and wife Brooke, Dustin Paul Zirkle and wife Kacy, Dylan Michael Zirkle and girlfriend Katie, Crystal Lee Lawson and husband Brandon, Kathy Lynn Zirkle, John DeWayne Zirkle, II, Jessica Fincannon and husband Derrick, Levi Lawrence, Felicia Dawn Alls and partner Andrew Newberry, and Travis Ross; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Kirk Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery in Nelson County. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:45 pm on Friday prior to the service.
