Born on October 26, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA was the daughter of the late George W. White and the late Clara Higgins White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James R. O’Brien, three siblings; May MacIhenney, Dorothy Gross, Richard White and “Daughter” in law Nancy Hill O’Brien.
She is survived by her three children; Dolores Febinger (Don), James O’Brien, and Steven E. O’Brien (Ginny), one brother; George W. White Jr. (Sugar) as well as several grandchildren and great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dolores was a fun loving woman who never met a stranger and always had smile on her face. She was involved with the Amherst Seniors Club, Red Hatters Group and Art Group. Dolores at one time worked for Stouffer’s Restaurant in Philadelphia and was the Lunch Lady at Sterling High in Somerdale, NJ. She also loved gardening and keeping everyone well fed. Dolores will be greatly missed.
A Memorial service celebrating her life will be conducted on Saturday, May 20th, 11:00 am at Clifford Baptist Church, Amherst, VA with a luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Tunnel2 Towers or Mountain Missions in Grundy, Virginia.
