Dorothy Louise Ogden Hunt, born on April 4, 1931, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Roberts Hunt; her parents, Raymond Fairfax Ogden and Ruby Elizabeth Doss Ogden; her brothers, Raymond F. Ogden Jr. (Elizabeth), Walter E. Ogden (Helen), and John O. Ogden (Opal); her sister, Barbara O. Dawson (George); her son, Timothy R. Hunt; and her granddaughter, Kristi D. Hunt and a sister-in-law, Sharlean Ogden.
Dorothy, known for her love of family, spent many joyous hours in their company. She was an avid baker, especially known for her cakes, and took great pleasure in shopping, church activities, and watching Dr. Phil on TV. Dorothy was a cherished member of Christ Community Church. She also enjoyed trips to the beach and dining out with her family on Friday nights.
She is survived by her loving children: two sons, Barry W. Hunt (Brenda) and Troy E. Hunt (Sarah), and her daughter, Dawn H. Schmitz. Dorothy also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Wendy H. Archibald (Cory), Andrew T. Hunt (Haleigh), Taylar M. Hunt, Makellah T. Mann, Skylar R. Schmitz, and Reagan A. Hunt, as well as her precious great-grandchildren: Jaxon Archibald, Sloan Archibald, Charley Archibald, and Palmer Archibald. She was also survived by her brothers, William H. Ogden, Thomas K. Ogden (Nancy), Larion W. Ogden (Marie), Larry G. Ogden (Cheryl).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, Virginia. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the same location, officiated by Pastor Thomas Donovan and Pastor Glen Shelton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ Community Church, PO Box 63, Madison Heights Virginia 24572. Family expresses their thankfulness to caregiver Wanda Slack and the Centra Hospice staff for their kindness and care to Dorothy.
Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the family during this time. Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
