Our Super Angel, Dorothy Linthicum Peters, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Dorothy was born June 30, 1917, a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Rosilie Phelps Linthicum. Dorothy celebrated her 95th birthday at the Amherst County Jail (Emergency Shelter) where she carried the word of God and praised Him to all there. She enjoyed her final day doing what she was so fond of-shopping!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 54 years, William E. “Bill” Peters Sr.; a brother, George W. Linthicum; and a sister, Nellie L. Hall.
Dorothy leaves to mourn her passing her sons, William E. Peters Jr. (Sandra), James K. “Jimmy” Peters Sr. (Judy Trent), and F.E. “Inkey” Peters (Judy Tomlin); and a daughter, Charlene P. Bolling (Douglas). Survivors also include beloved grandchildren, Douglas W. “D.W.” Bolling Jr. (Lorrie), James K. “Kenny” Peters Jr. (Patricia), Frances Patton (Marty), Paula McFaden, Melissa Beth Campbell (Darryl), and Robert Peters (friend, Danielle Gormley); great-grandchildren, Zachary and Dylan Peters, Staff Sgt., USMC William Michael Moore (Olivia), Alexandria Moore (friend, Jerrett), Ryan Patton, Justin Nash, Josie Tucker, Leah and Cole McFaden, Jason and Tyler Campbell; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Logan and Andrew Mason Lawhorne; and nephew, Lawrence Eugene Cunningham.
The family extends love and appreciation to special granddaughter, Frances Patton; special great-granddaughter, Alexandria Moore; and special niece, Odell Foutty, for the love and care given to Dorothy over the years. Thank you to Harold and Patsy Mayberry, who were faithful in keeping Dorothy as part of her church family by delivering a DVD of the church service each and every Sunday for years; Centra Hospice and the numerous caregivers who served Dorothy over the years. We greatly appreciate and love all of you!
When I get where I'm going
And I see my maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace.
When I get to where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years.
I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here.
I Love You All and Will See You in Heaven,
Dorothy
