Obituary of Edna Brown Hunt
Edna Brown Hunt, 82, of Madison Heights was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord Jesus on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of John William Hunt, Jr. for 65 years. Born in Amherst County on February 15, 1939 she was a daughter of the late Ervin Brown and Alma Brown. Edna was an active member of Sandy Bottom Christian for 65 years and sang alto in the church choir, a mixed quartet, and most recently in the Billy Hunt Singers. In addition, she played piano for church services and for family sing alongs. She loved to cook for her family as well as prepare meals and visit those in need or shut in. Nannie Hunt had a heart for children and so enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had special gifts and activities planned when they would come to visit. Edna retired from Central Virginia Training Center where she worked in the reimbursement office with many good friends. During her retirement she volunteered at Lynchburg General Hospital. She will mostly be remembered as a faithful and devoted wife with the gift of making her family and friends feel so loved and special. She was preceded in death by her two siblings Lois Schnuth and Earl Brown; and a step son Dennis Hunt. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, John E. Hunt and wife Rita of Charlottesville and Dianne Williams of Madison Heights; daughter in law, Nancy Hunt of Concord; four siblings, Carlyle Brown, Geraldine Bowles and her husband Gerald, Ella Hughes and her husband, Ronnie all of Forest and Shirley Franklin of Monroe; six grandchildren, Jerry (Rhonda), Tina, Eddie (Annie), Billy (Lisa), Candace (Kenny), and Carmen (Justin); 13 great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law Joan Burch. A funeral service will be conducted 10:30 am Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Rev. Jim Freeman and Rev. Tom McBride officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery.
