She was born in Amherst County on November 8, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Marvin Warren Davis, Sr. and the late Mary Watts Davis.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years, Davis Hill McDaniel and her second husband, of 26 years, Fred William Morris. She was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Lloyd A. Watts; 3 brothers, M. Warren Davis, Jr., James L. Davis, and John Dudley Davis and a sister, Elizabeth D. Lane.
She was a long-time member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church while living Amherst County and Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church while living Lynchburg. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to bake and was well known for her delicious pound cakes. Her smile could light up a room and she never heard a song that didn’t make her want to dance. She will be missed, but we take comfort that she lived a beautiful life with many friends and family, and we will always cherish our memories of her.
She is survived by her son, Dudley Hill McDaniel and wife Sandra; a granddaughter, Mary Margaret McDaniel Prange and husband Trent; a step-son, Ellis Michael Morris and wife Deborah; 3 step-grandsons, Michael Peyton Morris and wife Jenna, James Duff Morris, and John Leland Morris; 6 step-great grandchildren, Haley Christinia Morris, Andrew Reagan Morris, Ellie Rebecca Eloise Morris, Elizabeth Sawyer Morris, Mary Ellis Morris and John “Jack” Leland Morris, Jr.; a sister in law, Sue L. Davis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
For the safety of all due to COVID-19 funeral services will be private.
The family would like to thank Runk and Pratt of Forest and Seven Hills Hospice for their love, dedication and care during her long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
