Ernest "Junior" Reed Crawford Jr.

Born September 7, 1936 in Amherst County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Nell DeWitt Crawford and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Ingram and Virginia Call. Ernest was the retired owner & operator of Crawford’s Carpet and Tile for thirty-eight years. He was a member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church and was a member of Clinton Lodge #73, AF & AM of Amherst County.

Ernest is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Julia Farthing Crawford; his son, Kenneth Reed Crawford, Sr. and wife Pamela; his grandchildren, Kenneth Reed Crawford, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Monroe, Luke B. Crawford of Amherst, and Kristen C. Welch and husband Brandon of Madison Heights and his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Emily Welch.

Dr. Derik Hamby, Pastor of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst County.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. There will be Masonic Rites during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Memorial Baptist Church or the

Monelison Rescue Squad.
