Essie J. Maddox

Born in Amherst VA on November 28, 1944 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Johnson and Essie Fitzgerald.

In addition to her husband, Denie is survived by her children Craig Maddox and his wife, Stephanie, from Amherst, Brandon Maddox and his wife, Casey, from Amherst. She is also survived by her grandchildren Samantha Maddox Molden and her husband, Alex, of Hawaii, Zack Maddox and his girlfriend, Madison Schall of Amherst, Chase Maddox of Amherst, and Emily Maddox of Amherst. She also is survived by three great grandchildren Elijah Maddox and Emmarie Maddox and Allie Molden. Denie is also survived by her dear Aunt Suzie Johnson of Fishersville and a cousin Deloris Rogers of Fishersville who were very special to her.

Denie was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who spent her life caring for and taking care of her family and the people she loved. She loved all of her cats and dogs that were her companions throughout the years. She was particularly fond of her loving dog, Sophie, who stayed by her side during her illness.

A short memorial service for family and friends will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Allan Monfils officiating. Family will receive friends following the service.
