Estelle Johns Hicks

Born November 14, 1938 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of late Scott E. and Eva Willis Johns and was also preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, two grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Hicks retired from the Central Virginia Training Center after almost twenty-eight years of service. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hicks is survived by a daughter, Kathy H. Laughlin and husband Ken of Madison Heights; a son, Edward Hicks and wife Brenda of Evington; two sisters, Eva A. Johns and Violet Schultheis and husband Mike; four brothers, Dillard Johns and wife Elsie, Frank Johns, Mack Johns, and David Johns, all of Maryland and four grandchildren, Jennifer Hunkley, Teresa Wright, Edward Hicks, Jr., and Christopher Laughlin.

She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many special nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, 170 Hillcrest Drive, Madison Heights, VA, 24572.
