Estelle Rucker Layne

Estelle Rucker Layne, 72, of Madison Heights passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Henry “Butch” Floyd Layne, III. Born August 23, 1945, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Jack Lee Rucker and the late Ruth Franklin Rucker. Estelle was a retired charge aide for the Central Virginia Training Center with 43 years of service, and she attended Madison Heights Baptist Church as well as Union Christian Church. Estelle enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the beach. Her hobbies included: spending time with family and shopping. In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Rucker and Wiley Rucker. In addition to her husband Estelle is survived by two children, Terry Stinnett and her husband Scott of Madison Heights and Jerry Layne and his wife Karen of Rustburg; one sister, Hollis Yeatts and her husband Jimmy of Goode; sister-in-law, Nancy Rucker of Yorktown; three grandchildren, Lauren Burnette and her husband Lukas, Logan Layne and Colby Stinnett; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends Loretta Morgan and Carolyn Riddle. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Jim Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Christian Church.
