

Estelle Tolbert Smith, 81, of Madison Heights, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, surrounded by her family, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Franklin Roosevelt Smith for fifty-nine years.
Born April 12, 1934 in Buckingham County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Tolbert and Susie Bryant Tolbert and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Allen and Virgie Bryant and a brother, Earl Tolbert. Estelle was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center.
Estelle is survived by her son, Kenneth Steven Smith and wife Janice; her daughter, Judy Smith Micklem and Fiance Mark Lacy, all of Madison Heights; a brother, Edward “Pete” Tolbert and wife Janice of Buckingham County; three grandchildren, Stefanie Copp and husband Chad, Steven Smith and wife Lorin, and Franklin Patrick Micklem and wife Erin; five great grandchildren, Macie Copp, Madelyn Copp, Anderson Copp, Juliet Copp, and Brody Smith; and a devoted cousin who was raised like her brother, Bernard Tolbert.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Tyree Family Cemetery in Concord with Pastor Carey Forbus officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at Estelle’s residence.
