Born on July 4, 1925 in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Marshall David Thomas and Ozzie McFaden Thomas.
Evelyn was a member of Southview United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking and making homemade Barbie doll clothes.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Sterling Harris and 11 siblings.
She is survived by her son, Harry Harris and wife Monica of Madison Heights; seven grandchildren, DeWayne Smith, Steven Donald, Jennifer Brewer, Brittney Schmelz, Christopher Lewis, Karlee Wriston, and Katilynn Lewis; and fourteen great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter
