

Born in Danville, January 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Roy T. Spain and Edith Marie Chandler Spain. Fred was a retired electrical technician from R.R. Donnelley and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Concord. He was also an avid fisherman and bowler. Fred proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tracy Kiely and her husband Doug of Buena Vista; one son, Justin Spain and his wife Melissa of Lynchburg; two step-sons, Steven Dancey and his wife Kathy and Neal Dancey and his wife Andrea all of Madison Heights; five grandchildren, Brook, Matthew, Hannah, Noah and Connley; his brother-in-law, David Coles and his wife Carol of Frisco, TX and three special friends, Doug Perrow, Nancy Russell and Annette Hudson.
One brother, Byron Spain preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church in Concord with the Rev. Chad Harris and the Rev. Curtis Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 p.m.
