Gary Neal Beasley Sr.

Born in Lynchburg on January 10, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles Randolph Beasley and Lillian Tyree Beasley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Keith Beasley.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of Amherst County High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from C & P Telephone Company after 20 years of dedicated service. Never one to remain idle, Gary continued working after retirement with the U.S. Postal Service and later served his community as Registrar of Amherst County for 12 years.

Service to others was an important part of Gary’s life. For more than 17 years, he was a dedicated member of the Monelison Volunteer Rescue Squad, giving generously of his time to help those in need.

Gary’s faith was the foundation of his life. He was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. His desire to deepen his knowledge of Scripture led him to Liberty Bible Institute, where he earned a certificate in Theology.

In his leisure time, Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He especially loved gardening and took great pride in planting a large garden each year. He was a man who welcomed a challenge and enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing a job through.

Above all, Gary loved his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather whose faith, strong work ethic and commitment to serving others were evident throughout his life. His family and friends will remember him for the many ways he cared for others and for a life well lived in service to his family, his community and his Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Beasley; his son, Neal Beasley, Jr. (Teresa); two daughters, Janet Coleman (John) and Jessica Ofsa (Max); five grandchildren, Elizabeth Swink (Jesse), Benjamin Beasley, Adelynn Ofsa, Dax Ofsa and Erin Coleman; four great grandchildren, Charlie, Evie, Piper and Mabel Swink; his sister, Wanda Clements (Dwayne) and a special Nephew, Bernie Wilson (Lisa).

A memorial service celebrating Gary’s life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Adam Staton officiating.
