Born September 27, 1921 in Bedford Co.,VA, he was the son of the late Alexander and Lilly Spencer Arthur. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters and a grandson, Matthew Blake Arthur.
In addition to being a member of the former Bethesda Presbyterian Church and he was a retired roofer with T.B. Dornin & Adams. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by one son; Gibbs L. Arthur, Jr. and his wife, Jean of Lynchburg; and two grandsons, Brandon Scott Arthur and Brian Christopher Arthur.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Presbyterian Cemetery.
