Born in Lynchburg, February 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus Overbay and Mary Frances McCormick Overbay. Twice married she was the wife of the late Ellis E. Greer and the late Charles R. Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Townsend and her brother, Lawrence Overbay.
Hazel was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent baker. She was known for the cakes she baked and gave to family and friends. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Concord. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Michael L. Greer and his wife Vicki of Madison Heights; her daughter, Diane G. Baker and her husband Tony of North Topsail Beach, NC; two grandsons, Christopher Greer and his wife Wendy and Joseph Greer and his wife Summer and several great grandchildren.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Dan Dibble officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
