Born in Rockbridge County, July 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Howard Lee Sloan and Lillian Boggess Sloan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Angie M. Shaw and her husband Gary and Wanda S. Wooldridge and her husband Mike; one son, Irvin E. Sloan, Jr. and his wife Christa; two brothers, Wayne Sloan and Ralph Sloan; one sister, Mildred Sloan; seven grandchildren, Cory Smith, Amber Smith, Ashley Campbell and husband Joey, Michael Wooldridge, Jr., Dustin Sloan, Irvine E. Sloan, III and Katelyn Fischer and two great grandchildren, Aubree Campbell and Addilynne Vadeboncoeur.
He was a loving husband, a great father to his children and loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in the yard, cutting grass, gardening and week eating.
