

James Elwood Manspile, Sr., 68, of Monroe, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia Tyree Manspile for forty-eight years.
Born October 14, 1941 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late James Emory and Inez Ayers Manspile and was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Painter. Mr. Manspile was retired from Griffin Pipe Foundry.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, James E. "Spooky" Manspile, Jr. and wife, Brenda of Evington; two daughters, Eretta M. Fix and husband, Orrin of Monroe and Christy D. Manspile of Charlottesville; one brother, Ralph Manspile and wife, Ruth of Bedford; two sisters, Ruth Perry and Nancy Fitzgerald and husband, Preston, all of Lynchburg; a sister-in-law, Diane Reynolds of Madison Heights; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Tyree and wife, Nancy, also of Madison Heights and Junior Tyree and wife, Robin of St. Augustine, FL; special friend, Marvin Snyder of Monroe; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
