Born February 29, 1936 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late James Donald Riley, Sr. and Loveonia Creasy Riley and was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Riley of Wytheville and two sisters, Ann and Ellen Riley of Madison Heights. Mr. Riley was retired from Rock Tenn and a member of Madison Heights Christian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Riley Ramsey and husband Trevor of Madison Heights; three sons, William E. Riley and wife Connie of Lynchburg, James D. Riley, III and wife Spring of Alexandria, and Richard R. Riley of Madison Heights; five grandchildren, Hannah Ramsey, Simon Ramsey, and Ethan Ramsey, all of Madison Heights, Erica Lineberry of Greensboro, NC, and Emily Riley of Jacksonville, FL and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with William Riley officiating.
