James Edward Smith

James Edward Smith, "Tata", passed away March 29, 2024 at the University of Virginia Medical Center from complications of congestive heart failure. His last wishes were to go with his mamma, who we are sure welcomed him with open arms.

Born March 4, 1968, Tata was 1 of 8 children and grew up in Monroe.

Tata was proceeded in death by his parents, Vivian Mullens Smith and James Herbert Beverley. He was also proceeded in death by his brother Donald Lee Smith Jr (Butch).

Tata is survived by 6 siblings, Judy Arthur, Lisa Johns (Roger), Glenn Smith, George Beverley (Wanda), Joe Beverley (Lisa) and Robbie Beverley (Mary). In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind a step-daughter and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Tata was a proud member of the Monacan Indian Nation, his family would like to thank them for their support and assistance in his care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Monacan Indian food bank who tirelessly serves the entire community.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
