Jarvis "Buz" Walter Pierce Jr.

Jarvis Walter “Buz” Pierce, Jr. Passionate Christian, devoted husband and friend, loving son, brother, father, and uncle, Jarvis W. “Buz” Pierce, Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2011. He was a man of many talents, who left a legacy of love. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen Mills Pierce for thirty-three years. Born January 30, 1951 in Franklin, VA, he was the son of Marjorie Schultz Pierce of Amherst and the late Jarvis Walter Pierce, Sr. Mr. Pierce was a member of New Life Community Church in Monroe. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Pierce is survived by one daughter, Keri Nicole Griffith of Dallas, TX; one brother, Marty Pierce and one sister, Sharyn Black, both of Atlanta, GA; two nieces, Angelia Nielsen and Michele Green and a special nephew, Jim Mills, III and his wife, Amy. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at New Life Community Church. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at New Life Community Church with Pastor Marvin Busie officiating. Following the memorial service a Home Going Celebration will be held on Pierce Mountain. Family and friends are invited to dress casually and bring a lawn chair.
